Save hours on interview prep with ChatGPT AI
The future is HERE!
It’s time to use the tools that are out there to help you save time on your interview preparation… and yes, that means AI.
Now, as you just finished reading that sentence, I bet you fall into one of two categories:
You’re thinking, “Oh great, more talk about this AI stuff. I don’t understand this at all. How is AI supposed to help me if I don’t know how to use it?”
Or, you’re thinking, “AI, awesome! Let’s roll.”
In either case, I’ve got your back.
Disclaimer: I don’t claim to be an AI expert at all, but I am fascinated by the free and simple capabilities of AI to help with so much of the things that used to be stress-inducing pressure cookers—including interview preparation.
So, let’s dive in!
We all know that part of prepping for interviews means you have to predict some of the questions you’ll be asked, but this can be complicated for many reasons, including:
The job description is SUUUUUPER long. You know those job descriptions that take about 4 minutes of scrolling and it seems that there’s like a page for each of the requirements? What’s up with that?

The job description is complex. Sometimes this goes hand-in-hand with a long job description, and sometimes not. Either way, complicated job descriptions usually have a lot of technical terms or fancy industry jargon that can be intimidating.
The role is a new field for you. Any time that you’re transitioning to a new field, job descriptions may seem like a foreign language to you.
Ok, Brian, I get it. It’s not easy to develop practice interview questions from a job description on my own. So tell me how to make it easier.
Here’s how to use AI (ChatGPT) to generate practice questions for you:
Step 1
Copy the text of a job description for which you have an upcoming interview.
(Side note: A good practice to adopt is to copy the text of any job descriptions you apply to and keep them on file somewhere, such as a Google Doc. Many times, the link to the job description for the role you’re interviewing for may have already been taken down. If you’ve already saved the content of the JD ahead of time, you won’t have any issues accessing it later for your interview prep).
Here’s an example I used for the purposes of this email, which is for a Customer Success role with Google:

Step 2
Go to ChatGPT and use a prompt like the one below:

Note: Be sure to paste in the entire job description into the chat box for best results. If you do not have a ChatGPT account, it’s free to create one.
Step 3
Review the questions that are generated for you. Here is an example of what was provided to me using the prompt above:

Notice how detailed the questions are and how specific they are to the exact job description provided.
You can even take it a step further and ask ChatGPT to provide you some examples of answers for the questions it just gave you!
That’s it!
It’s really that simple.
AI is here to stay and will only continue to improve and get more useful. Leverage this to save yourself hours of prep time reading through job descriptions, deciphering the meaning and trying to predict the questions that you’ll need to face in the interview process.
Time is precious on every job hunt. Use this guidance to optimize your search and save yourself from extra stress!
